Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated the Elcot Information Technology (IT) park at Vilankurichi, Coimbatore, on Tuesday as part of his two-day tour of the city. The IT park, built at a cost of Rs 158.32 crore, covers an area of 2.94 lakh square feet, including 1.56 lakh square feet dedicated to IT space. The six-storey facility is designed to support startups.
During the inauguration, Stalin also handed over land allotment letters to ten companies that will establish manufacturing facilities at the Aerospace and Defence Components Manufacturing parks located in Sulur and Varapatti.
Upon arriving at Coimbatore airport from Chennai, the chief minister was welcomed by State Electricity and Prohibition Minister V Senthil Balaji, along with other ministers and officials. Stalin participated in a roadshow lasting nearly an hour from the airport to the inauguration site, where he was met with enthusiastic crowds and DMK party flags.
Stalin distributed land “release” orders to owners of lands acquired by the housing board but left unused, addressing an issue that has affected landowners for 35 years. “This move will benefit 10,000 families,” he stated on the social media platform X, highlighting the decision’s significance in responding to petitions received during the Lok Sabha election campaign.
During his visit, Stalin also interacted with local goldsmiths and listened to their concerns. Prior to his arrival, State Industries Minister T R B Rajaa inspected the Aerospace Park and Defence Components Industrial Park sites, providing updates on the projects.
