Coimbatore, Feb 25:
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Coimbatore today (February 25) for a series of events, including the inauguration of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) new district office and participation in the Maha Shivaratri celebrations at the Isha Yoga Center.
In anticipation of his visit, security in the city has been significantly tightened, with 7,000 police personnel deployed across key locations. The security arrangements are being supervised by TN Additional DGP (Law and Order) Devasirvatham, West Zone IG Sentilkumar, and Coimbatore City Police Commissioner A. Saravanan Sundar.
Tight vigil will be maintained at places including the Nava India locality, where Amit Shah will stay overnight, the BJP office in Peelamedu, the Isha Center, and all travel routes. Authorities have also placed restrictions to prevent any disruptions, as several groups have announced protests and black flag demonstrations against his visit.
Amit Shah will arrive in Coimbatore from New Delhi by a special flight, landing at Coimbatore International Airport. He will stay at a private hotel in the Nava India area before attending the BJP office inauguration at Peelamedu the next morning.
Apart from opening the Coimbatore office, he will virtually inaugurate five other BJP district offices, including those in Ramanathapuram and Tirunelveli. Following the event, he will hold discussions with key BJP leaders regarding the party’s strategies in Tamil Nadu.
Later in the evening, the Home Minister will attend the grand Maha Shivaratri celebrations at the Isha Yoga Center as a special guest. The event, hosted annually by spiritual leader Sadhguru, attracts thousands of devotees and prominent personalities.
After the celebrations, Amit Shah is expected to stay overnight at Isha before departing by helicopter to the airport the next morning. He will then return to New Delhi.
During his visit, Amit Shah is also expected to meet leading industrialists from Coimbatore, a major hub for manufacturing and textile industries. His discussions will likely focus on investment opportunities and economic development in the region.
With heightened political significance and strong security measures, Amit Shah’s visit to Coimbatore is being closely watched, especially with the BJP looking to strengthen its presence in Tamil Nadu ahead of upcoming elections.
