Museum Theatre back in action

The 129-year-old Museum Theatre, a hub for Chennai’s theatre scene, is back in action after a three-year renovation. Originally built in 1896, the venue is known for its excellent acoustics and rich history, hosting legendary performances since the Madras Dramatic Society relocated there.
Renovations completed in early 2024 included revamped interiors, upgraded lighting, and green rooms. The seating has been reduced to 450 for a more comfortable experience. Now, the theatre hosts plays, stand-up shows, concerts, and cultural events, with 10-15 shows per month.
The Department of Museums invites organizers to book slots for cultural programs at this historic venue.
