Don’t believe everything you see in reels, says Stalin

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recently addressed students at the centenary celebration of Good Shepherd School in Chennai, offering them important advice on navigating the modern world. His speech focused on the dangers of social media and the importance of prioritizing real-life values.
Stalin urged students not to be swayed by the content they see on platforms like “Reels” and “Instagram.” He stressed that “likes” are not a true measure of one’s worth and advised them against seeking role models in the virtual world. Instead, he encouraged them to focus on their health, engage in physical activities, and view their parents as their most trusted friends.
The Chief Minister also praised the school for its legacy of producing successful individuals, including leaders like P. Chidambaram, honest civil servants, and talented artists. He highlighted that the school’s educational philosophy extends beyond academic subjects to instill values such as compassion, courage, responsible citizenship, and democracy.
Touching on the current political climate in India, Stalin expressed concern about the rise of hatred and divisiveness, particularly against minorities. He noted that a sense of hatred is being encouraged by the central government in many states and advised students to learn to interact with people from all castes and religions without prejudice.
In his concluding remarks, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of an education that fosters culture and values, preparing students to be good citizens in a diverse society.
