Tamil Nadu Technology (iTNT) Hub, India’s first deep and emerging tech innovation network, has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with The University of Melbourne to strengthen collaboration between Tamil Nadu and Australia’s innovation ecosystem. The agreement aims to foster long-term partnerships supporting researchers, students, startups, innovators, companies, and investors to advance emerging technologies.The LoI was exchanged by Professor Michael Wesley, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global, Culture and Engagement) of the University of Melbourne, and Ms. Vanitha Venugopal, CEO of iTNT Hub, in the presence of Tamil Nadu IT Minister Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan and Ms. Silai Zaki, Consul General of Australia. The partnership will focus on AI/ML, AR/VR, IoT, Robotics, Semiconductors, and Quantum Computing, co-develop acceleration programs, facilitate startup and mentor exchanges, host expert sessions, and promote investor engagement.
Both institutions will operate independently while pursuing shared innovation goals for a three-year term. Professor Wesley highlighted that the collaboration could address social, environmental, and health challenges, foster co-creation between startups and researchers, and drive the development of new technologies. Ms. Venugopal emphasized that the LoI will build a strong cross-border innovation ecosystem, leveraging entrepreneurship, academic research, industry diversity, and global alliances to strengthen India-Australia tech collaboration.
