Chennai-based deep-tech startup Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions, a pioneer in construction 3D printing, has entered into a partnership with CEPT University, Ahmedabad, to create a national-level platform for advancing 3D construction technology in India. As part of the agreement, an advanced additive manufacturing workshop will be set up at CEPT University in the coming months. The facility will support research, teaching and innovation, and serve as a hub for developing future-ready construction technologies. Tvasta will provide a robotic 3D concrete printing system capable of producing complex architectural forms.
With this initiative, CEPT becomes one of the few premier institutions in the country to host a dedicated construction-scale 3D printing facility. Researchers from both organisations will work on printed facades, building components and integrated structural systems, including walls, roofs and slabs printed as a single unit.
The collaboration is led by Prof. Jinal Shah of CEPT University and Kalyan Vaidyanathan, Chief Technical Officer (Construction) at Tvasta. The partners will also offer joint studio courses on Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) and undertake applied research in energy-efficient construction, material performance and structural behaviour of 3D-printed elements.
The partnership aims to combine CEPT’s academic strengths with Tvasta’s industry expertise to drive innovation, address real-world construction challenges and shape the future of automated construction in India.
