Actor Shanmuga Pandian Vijayakant has shared insights into his preparation for the upcoming rural drama Kombuseevi, revealing that his biggest learning came from home. He said he picked up the Madurai Tamil dialect by closely observing his father, the late actor-politician Vijayakant, both in films and in personal conversations with relatives.Though raised in the city, Shanmuga Pandian said the Madurai slang felt natural because of his father’s influence. Kombuseevi marks another rural-based film for the actor after Madurai Veeran and Padai Thalaivan, though he clarified that this was not a conscious choice. According to him, directors felt he suited such roles. The film was shot in Theni, where interacting with locals helped him understand the region’s body language and speech better.
He also spoke about sharing screen space with Sarathkumar, calling the experience enriching and driven by mutual respect and improvisation. Despite the physical challenges during the shoot, Shanmuga Pandian said villagers extended strong support to the team, many out of affection for his father. Directed by Ponram, Kombuseevi is expected to blend entertainment with a social message, staying true to the director’s signature style.
