Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan told students that rapid advances in technology, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI), are bringing major changes and challenges, and that earning a degree alone will not be enough to succeed in the future. He spoke at the 34th convocation of Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute in Velappanchavadi.
Radhakrishnan said students must keep learning every day to stay relevant in the face of global competition and technological disruption. He compared life to nature, saying success and failure both come and that students should not lose heart when they face setbacks, as failures often teach important lessons.
Highlighting the impact of AI, he said change is constant and scientific knowledge must be continually updated to keep pace with technological progress. The Vice-President also expressed confidence in India’s future, saying he believes the country will soon become the world’s third-largest economy and that today’s young graduates can help India achieve leadership in many fields.
The convocation saw more than 5,500 students graduating, and Radhakrishnan presented degrees to several top achievers. State ministers and other dignitaries also attended the event.
