Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president actor Vijay on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the ruling DMK government, accusing it of a serious breakdown in law and order across Tamil Nadu and asserting that public safety has deteriorated under Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s administration. His remarks come amid intensifying political rhetoric as the state heads toward the 2026 Assembly elections.
In a statement, Vijay cited a string of violent crimes — including the murder of a migrant worker and his family in Adyar and the sexual assault of a young woman at a college canteen in Nandanam — as evidence that basic security has been jeopardised, leaving both residents and those visiting the state feeling unsafe.
He accused the DMK government of neglecting the protection of women and children, failing to deliver stringent punishment for offenders, and pursuing a “deceptive, drama-driven” approach to governance rather than addressing core public safety concerns.
Vijay also criticised the regime’s priorities, alleging that its focus on “plunder” and publicity had come at the expense of citizen security.
“Instead of taking immediate action to ensure punishment for criminals, the Chief Minister repeatedly claims Tamil Nadu is a safe state for women,” he said, warning that unless concrete steps are taken, the electorate may “write the final chapter” on the current government’s tenure.
