Iran has postponed the funeral ceremony of its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, as the country continues to face heavy bombardment from joint military operations by the United States and Israel. The decision was announced amid escalating attacks and growing security concerns across the country.
The farewell ceremony was originally scheduled to take place in the capital city, Tehran, at the Imam Khomeini Prayer Hall. Authorities said the event had to be postponed, and a new date will be announced later. Officials indicated that the delay was partly due to expectations of massive public participation and logistical challenges in managing such large crowds during wartime conditions.
Khamenei, who had served as Iran’s supreme leader since 1989, was killed on February 28 in airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel targeting senior Iranian leadership in Tehran. His death marked one of the most dramatic developments in the ongoing regional conflict and triggered nationwide mourning across Iran.
