Tehran, Mar 28:
Israel has intensified its military campaign against Iran, launching a new wave of airstrikes on Iranian targets, including reported hits on nuclear and weapons production facilities and other strategic military sites.
Iranian state media confirmed that nuclear‑related sites such as the Shahid Khondab Heavy Water Complex in Arak and the Ardakan uranium facility were struck, though no casualties or radioactive incidents were immediately reported. Iran’s side has also faced attacks on weapon production and storage facilities in Tehran and western regions.
The escalation comes amid little sign of progress in diplomatic efforts, with international talks and negotiated ceasefire attempts failing to deliver a breakthrough. Israel’s defense establishment has warned that attacks “will escalate and expand,” reflecting a firm posture despite global calls for restraint.
Iran has responded with its own missile and drone launches aimed at Israeli and Gulf Arab targets, prompting heightened air‑defense activities across the region. Tensions continue to affect global energy markets and security, with the conflict now drawing sustained international attention as both sides persist in military actions without a diplomatic resolution in sight.
Humanitarian and Global Concerns
The conflict has seen rising civilian casualties, internal displacement, and disruptions to shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz, which plays a critical role in global oil and gas trade. Diplomatic efforts, including proposals for ceasefire talks, are ongoing but remain fragile amid continuing strikes and counter‑strikes.
