Kyiv/Riyadh, Mar 28:
Ukraine and Saudi Arabia have agreed on a new defence cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening military ties and laying the groundwork for future contracts, technology sharing, and investment, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced during his visit to the Gulf.
President Zelenskyy said the pact — signed ahead of his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud — “lays the foundation for future contracts, technological cooperation and investment.”
Defence cooperation is expected to deepen security collaboration, including possible expertise exchange in areas such as air‑defense and counter‑drone systems as Ukraine continues to seek new strategic partnerships amid its ongoing conflict with Russia.
This marks a significant step in Ukraine’s diplomatic outreach in the Middle East, coming as Kyiv expands security ties with regional partners and enhances its role in broader defence cooperation frameworks.
