Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin declared, “I am Kalaignar’s son; I will do what I have promised,” while addressing a massive election campaign rally in Nagercoil, reaffirming his commitment to deliver on poll assurances.
The rally, held at the Scott Christian College grounds, witnessed a large turnout of supporters and was organised in support of candidates from key constituencies including Kanyakumari, Nagercoil, Kulachel, Padmanabhapuram, Vilavancode and Killiyoor.
Stalin invoked the legacy of his father, M. Karunanidhi, positioning himself as a leader committed to continuing the Dravidian model of governance.
Highlighting major electoral promises, Stalin announced a series of welfare measures aimed at women, farmers and the general public. He said financial assistance under the Puthumai Penn and Tamil Pudhalvan schemes would be increased to ₹1,500 per month, while a ₹2,000 monthly rights allowance would be provided to 1.31 crore women. For farmers, he promised to raise the paddy procurement price to ₹3,500 per quintal and extend collateral-free loans up to ₹5 lakh for women’s self-help groups.
Focusing on infrastructure and public transport, the Chief Minister said 10,000 new buses would be introduced over the next five years and a modern integrated bus terminus would be constructed in Vadacheri.
He also announced ₹8,000 worth of coupons for housewives, a scheme he said has already gained widespread popularity across Tamil Nadu.
Reiterating his commitment, Stalin said his government would stand by its promises, stressing that his leadership reflects the values and vision of Kalaignar as the state heads into a crucial electoral battle.
