New Delhi, May 26:
The political situation in Karnataka has heated up amid renewed speculation over a leadership change, with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar locked in an ongoing power tussle within the Congress party.
The buzz gained momentum after Siddaramaiah’s recent visit to New Delhi following a call from the party high command. While he maintained that he was unaware of the meeting’s agenda, the development has triggered intense speculation about a possible leadership decision.
Reports also indicated that Shivakumar was not initially part of the meeting but later travelled to Delhi, adding to the political intrigue and signalling internal churn within the party.
The rivalry between the two leaders dates back to 2023, when the Congress came to power in Karnataka and reportedly worked out a power-sharing arrangement. The issue has resurfaced as the government completes around two-and-a-half years in office.
