Kyiv, Oct 7:
Russia launched a fresh wave of airstrikes on Kyiv early Wednesday, damaging buildings and warehouses and sending explosions across the Ukrainian capital as Moscow continued its near-daily attacks on Ukraine.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the strikes caused damage at several locations in the capital. Emergency services were deployed following the attacks, while residents were urged to remain in shelters as the assault continued.
A separate Russian airstrike targeted the southeastern city of Dnipro, where an industrial facility was damaged, according to regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha.
The latest attacks underline the continuing intensity of the Russia-Ukraine war, with Ukrainian cities facing repeated missile and drone strikes. The renewed assault comes as Ukraine prepares for another difficult winter amid continuing Russian attacks on energy and other infrastructure.
Ukraine has repeatedly urged its Western allies to strengthen air-defence support, arguing that the ability to protect cities and critical infrastructure remains central to its war effort. The latest strikes are expected to add to concerns over civilian safety and infrastructure damage as winter approaches.
