Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami flagged off 471 new buses this morning from the Secretariat.
The fleet of buses has been bought at a cost of Rs 126 crore, according to reports. In keeping with the needs of the people of today, of the 471 buses, 60 are air-conditioned coaches.
“You must see the rickety old buses that are run by MTC. There are no comforts inside the buses for the amount of ticket price they charge. I hope the new buses will change the scenario for us regular commuters,” said R Sumathi, who goes to her Guindy office by bus.
