Karimnagar (Telangana): In an interesting turn of events, 1,000 farmers have allegedly planned to file nominations against MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha from the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency for the coming elections.
Kavitha is the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. According to media reports, the farmers are planning to express their protest as the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) led by Rao had failed to ensure minimum support price (MSP) for turmeric and red jowar (sorghum) produce.
Sources said about 40 nomination forms were taken by various individuals yesterday, which was the first day of filing nominations. For the last three weeks, turmeric and red jowar farmers in Nizamabad and Jagtial districts in the State have been agitating for higher MSP.
