Day 18 of Athi Varadar darshan: Shenbagam flower garland spreads aroma (video)

Chennai: It is hard to believe that it is 18 days since the darshan of Athi Varadar began at Kanchipuram. But that is the fact.

The idol of Athi Varadar was taken out of the Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple tank and kept for publish darshan 1 July 2019. Since then, the crowds have been swelling for darshan of the Lord, as it happens only once in 40 years.

People are coming from far-off places like north India for the darshan apart from different parts of Tamilnadu.

But devotees are worried at the lack of sufficient facilities while they wait long hours in the queue.

Today being Thursday, considered auspicious, unmanageable crowds are thronging the Sri Devarajaswami Temple for a darshan of Athi Varadar. Reports emanating from there state that people are extremely inconvenienced waiting for the darshan.

Today, the deity was draped in mauve silk robes and the best part was that the shenbagam flower garland that adds to Athi Varadar’s charm, also spreads its tantalisingly sweet smell in the vicinity.
