Chennai: A 10-year-old class 5 girl student was kidnapped from her house at Kaalichettipatty near Namakkal on Sunday.
Police said P Saravanan, 34, of Pudukottai village, is a truck driver. Saravanan and Kousalya, 29, have a son and a daughter.
When Kousala and her children were sleeping in the terrace of their rented house in first floor at Kalichettipatti village near Erumapatti, two masked men threatened them at knife point.
They plastered their mouths and tied their hands at knife point. The culprits also relieved the woman of her gold chain and silver anklet, before abducting the girl.
The kidnappers then made a phone call and demanded Rs 50 lakh as ransom.
‘We have collected the CCTV footage from the nearby areas and are trying to identify the accused. Two unknown people had sneaked into the house and kidnapped the girl,’ said Inspector Kumaravel Pandian.
