Former Director News, AIR, Chennai passes away

V. Sankaran, former Director News, AIR, Chennai,died here late last night after a brief illness.He was 74.He is survived by his wife and two daughters.He has worked in RNI, PIB, AIR and DPR (Defence). He also served as correspondent during the Sri Lankan issue, a PIB release said today.He served in Puducherry All India Radio for more than 10 years asCorrespondent.Even after his retirement, he was continuously assisting the News Section as a casual News Editor till the COVID epidemic broke out.He was suffering from prostate cancer and renal issues and wasunder dialysis. His mortal remains are being taken to his hometown Ayyanarkulamvillage in Tirunelveli district for last rites.
