Tamil Nadu DGP (Director General of Police) denied the charges made by the Raj Bhavan regarding the petrol bomb attack on Wednesday saying that “Raj Bhavan’s statement that the petrol bomb exploded near entry gate and that the petrol bombs were hurled by more than one person are totally contrary to the truth. A fair and complete investigation is being conducted into the incident.”
Explaining the incident, State DGP Shankar Jiwal in a statement said that Karukka Vinodh, a habitual offender in Teynampet Police station limits, who came with four Molotov Cocktails at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday was intercepted by Chennai Police, fearing arrest, he hurled two petrol bombs, one on Sardar Patel Road and another on a barricade. It is wrong to say that he tried to barge into Raj Bhavan and that the Sentry there prevented him.”
Refuting the charges made by Raj Bhavan that the police didn’t register the complaint, the DGP a fair and complete investigation is being conducted.
“All footage from CCTV has been retrieved and a full investigation will be done. Tamil Nadu police give continuous security to the Governor’s office Raj Bhavan, Shankar Jiwal said.
Also, the Tamil Nadu DGP disputed Raj Bhavan’s claim that the Governor’s convoy was attacked in Mayiladuthurai.
“The Raj Bhavan made a claim that the governor’s convoy was attacked in Mayiladuthirai and the complaint given by the governor’s office and it’s not filed, are also against the truth.
