Chennai, Jan 26: As the Lok Sabha elections loom on the horizon, the buzz surrounding popular Tamil actor Vijay’s potential political debut has reached a crescendo. The actor recently met with more than 150 administrators from his fan club, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (VMI), at his Panaiyur office in Chennai on Thursday, January 25, fueling speculations about his foray into politics.The consultation meeting, attended by administrators from districts including Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy, and Madurai, saw Thalapathy Vijay seeking the perspectives of district leaders as the parliamentary elections draw near. According to sources, the actor is anticipated to officially launch his political party soon after completing his current project, “The Greatest Of All Time Shooting.” Subsequently, Vijay intends to focus on organising fieldwork and assuming other responsibilities for his political venture. A state-wide padayatra is also reportedly in the plans as part of his political entry.
Thalapathy Vijay’s fans club, VMI, provided a glimpse of the actor’s potential political influence by participating in the rural local body elections held in the state in 2021. They achieved noteworthy success, winning significant seats in various places and securing positions as local government representatives. In a symbolic gesture on Ambedkar’s birthday, the actor’s Makkal Iyakkam executives paid respects to Ambedkar’s statue by garlanding it, aligning with the actor’s social and political initiatives.
In a noteworthy humanitarian effort, Vijay’s Vijay Makkal Iyakkam distributed free food to the poor and needy on May 28, World Hunger Day, across all 234 assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu.
As the actor inches closer to officially launching his political party, the anticipation among fans and political observers continues to grow.
