Chennai, Jan 26: The Chennai Railway Division has unveiled a new and sophisticated facility, the deluxe passengers’ waiting room, at the iconic Chennai Metro City MGR Central Railway Station. Catering to passengers with brief waiting periods, this deluxe waiting room offers advanced amenities comparable to those found in airport waiting lounges.
Strategically located near the main entrance, adjacent to Platform #6, the deluxe waiting room is a testament to the Chennai Railway Division’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience. In a notable development, the division has entered into a 5-year contract agreement with ‘Ten-11 Hospitality’ to manage this premium service, at a cost of Rs. 17.75 cr.
The waiting lounge, with a capacity to accommodate 180 passengers, provides both comfortable seating and sleeping arrangements. What sets it apart are the state-of-the-art facilities, which include vegetarian and non-vegetarian restaurants, restroom and bathing facilities, and a dedicated space for luggage storage.
To access this deluxe waiting room, passengers will incur a nominal fee of Rs. 200/- per hour. The cost includes complimentary coffee and Wi-Fi services, ensuring that passengers can stay connected while waiting for their trains. Additionally, for those seeking the convenience of a nap during their wait, a sleeping facility is available at a charge of Rs. 840/- per person for a 3-hour period. This package comes with added perks, including free amenities such as water bottles, cool drinks, and Wi-Fi services.
