The legal saga surrounding Annamalai, a prominent figure in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, has taken a dramatic turn as he faces mounting pressure to appear before the judicial system despite availing himself of ‘Z’ category security. The latest developments, which include a refusal by high court judge Justice N Anand Venkatesh to quash the case and a subsequent directive to file a case before the district court, have thrust Annamalai into the center of a high-profile legal battle.
Annamalai’s decision to file a counter-petition requesting the court to quash the case was met with resistance from Justice N Anand Venkatesh, who refused to accede to the request. Instead, the high court judge directed the petitioner, identified as Piyush, to file a case before the district court, setting the stage for further legal proceedings.
Following the high court’s directive, Piyush filed a case before the judicial magistrate-4 district combined court judge K Yuvaraj, alleging wrongdoing on the part of Annamalai. However, Annamalai’s counsel sought a reprieve, citing his client’s ‘Z’ category security status and requesting three months’ time to appear before the court.
Despite the plea for leniency, the court remained steadfast in its stance, ordering Annamalai to appear before it on March 2 without fail.
