As the electoral battleground in Tamil Nadu heats up ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, BJP State President K Annamalai has made bold assertions, signaling the party’s confidence and ambition in the state’s political landscape.
Addressing the media in Coimbatore, Annamalai launched a scathing attack on the AIADMK, accusing its leaders of residing in a ‘mystic world’ and failing to grasp the ground realities of contemporary politics. He claimed that the AIADMK cadre had deserted their ranks to join the BJP, recognizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the true leader capable of steering the nation forward.
Amidst the final stages of the election campaign, Annamalai highlighted the AIADMK’s lack of clarity regarding its Prime Ministerial candidate, contrasting it with the BJP’s resolute stance under Modi’s leadership. He emphasized the widespread support for Modi among neutral voters and expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming polls.
Taking aim at Chief Minister MK Stalin and the opposition, Annamalai accused them of resorting to desperate measures, such as bringing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to campaign in Coimbatore, out of fear of defeat. He criticized Gandhi for alleged traffic violations and sought police action against him, while also highlighting the incongruity of the Congress’ alliances in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Amidst the political rhetoric, Annamalai outlined the BJP’s ambitious plans for Tamil Nadu, including the production and distribution of Bharat coconut oil in public distribution outlets, upgrading the Coimbatore railway station to international standards, and implementing the Annamalaiyar-Nallaru water scheme.
Looking ahead to the elections, Annamalai expressed optimism about the BJP’s prospects, setting a target of winning double-digit seats in Tamil Nadu and aiming for 25 seats as part of the NDA alliance. He acknowledged the competitive nature of the electoral contest, anticipating both close fights and three-cornered battles across constituencies.
