In response to the decline of water levels in water bodies across Tamil Nadu, Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena convened an urgent meeting with District Collectors on Tuesday to devise strategies for ensuring the uninterrupted supply of drinking water amidst the scorching summer heat.
Utilizing video conferencing technology, Meena engaged with the District Collectors of 12 districts to assess the gravity of the situation and chart a course of action to mitigate the looming water crisis. Emphasizing the critical importance of addressing the shortage of drinking water, Meena urged the Collectors to prioritize measures aimed at safeguarding public health and well-being.
During the meeting, Meena underscored the need for swift and decisive action to combat the water scarcity gripping the state. Collectors were tasked with implementing measures to ensure the seamless supply of drinking water to communities facing acute shortages, while also expediting the progress of integrated drinking water projects aimed at bolstering long-term water security.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Meena called upon Collectors to expedite the establishment of new borewells as a proactive measure to augment water resources and alleviate the strain on existing infrastructure. By harnessing innovative solutions and leveraging available resources, Collectors were urged to devise comprehensive plans to address the pressing needs of communities grappling with water scarcity.
