The summer heat is intensifying in Tamil Nadu, with Vellore recording the highest temperature of 104°F (40°C) yesterday.
According to the Meteorological Department, the daytime temperature has been rising steadily over the past few days, exceeding normal levels by up to 3°C. Officials have warned that the heatwave may continue in the coming days.
As of yesterday evening, eight cities in Tamil Nadu recorded temperatures above 100°F. Chennai (Meenambakkam), Karur Paramathi, and Tirupattur each registered 102°F (39°C). Meanwhile, Erode, Salem, Tiruttani, and Trichy recorded 100°F (38°C).
With temperatures soaring, residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged sun exposure.
