BJP state president K. Annamalai has accused the DMK government of political deception over its resolution to reclaim Katchatheevu. He said the DMK has used this issue for elections for 50 years while ignoring the struggles of fishermen.
Annamalai also criticized TNCC chief K Selvaperunthagai for defending Indira Gandhiās 1974 decision to give up Katchatheevu. He blamed the DMK and Congress for failing to protect Tamil fishermen when the Sri Lankan Navy killed over 80 of them.
He praised the Modi government for quickly rescuing arrested fishermen since 2014. He also accused former CM Karunanidhi of surrendering Katchatheevu and risking fishermenās livelihoods.
