The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid at the residence of former Tamil actress Aruna in Neelankarai, Chennai, on allegations of illegal financial transactions linked to her husband’s company.
Aruna, who rose to fame in the 1980s with her debut in Bharathiraja’s Kallukkul Eeram, went on to act in several notable Tamil films such as Sivappu Malli, Neethi Pizhaithathu, Naadodi Raja, Darling Darling Darling, Mudhal Mariyadhai, and Karimedu Karuvayan. She also appeared in Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada films, making her a popular face across South Indian cinema.
Her husband Mohan Gupta is a prominent businessman who runs a company specializing in infrastructure interior design and construction. The couple lives in Neelankarai along with their children.
According to sources, the ED initiated the search based on complaints of alleged illegal money transfers involving Mohan’s company. Officials carried out searches at their residence and office from early Tuesday morning and questioned Aruna, Mohan, and other family members regarding the financial dealings.
Details on whether any incriminating documents or materials were seized are expected to emerge after the investigation concludes.
