The Madras High Court has directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to reconsider complaints related to the internal leadership issues of the AIADMK party. The court has asked the Commission to give a proper update by July 21.The case was filed by the team of Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), the current general secretary of AIADMK. They said the Election Commission was delaying its decision on complaints about party by-law changes and the use of the “Two Leaves” party symbol.
The Election Commission told the court that it had received six complaints regarding the issue and was reviewing them carefully. Some of these complaints were also made by supporters of O. Panneerselvam (OPS), who was earlier removed from the party.
The judges said that the Election Commission should not delay in handling such important matters, especially since elections are approaching.
The court said the Commission must act responsibly and provide a clear update by July 21.
