Virudhunagar, July 21; A 24-year-old man was brutally murdered in broad daylight by an armed gang in Aruppukottai, Virudhunagar district, on Sunday. The victim has been identified as S. Dinesh, a resident of Sathyavani Muthu Colony.
The incident occurred around 12.30 p.m. while Dinesh was walking along a road in his locality. He was attacked and stabbed multiple times by the gang. He died on the spot due to severe injuries. After committing the crime, the attackers fled the scene, sources said.
Upon receiving information, Aruppukottai Town Inspector Balamurugan rushed to the spot and began investigations.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that Dinesh, a painter by profession, had previous disputes with other workers in the area. On the day of the incident, Dinesh was reportedly in an inebriated state and got into a heated argument with two men — Deva (54) and David (38) — from the same colony.
The argument turned violent and eventually led to the fatal attack. However, the exact reason behind the murder is still being investigated.
A case has been registered based on a complaint, and police are continuing their probe to nab the accused.
