The Tamil Nadu government is set to introduce 20 new Volvo multi-axle luxury buses before the upcoming Pongal festival.Each bus, costing around âč1.15 crore, will have 51 seats and will be equipped with modern facilities such as air conditioning, WiFi, mobile charging ports, reading lights, and comfortable reclining seats.
These buses are being added to improve passenger comfort and provide premium travel options during festive seasons. At present, the state operates over 1,000 deluxe and AC buses that serve thousands of passengers daily.
Transport department officials said the addition of these Volvo coaches is part of a larger plan to modernize the stateâs fleet. More luxury and AC buses are expected to be introduced in the coming months.
