The opposition AIADMK has launched an extensive consultative exercise with its booth-level agents as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls conducted by the Election Commission of India.
Party sources confirmed that district in-charges have been appointed in all districts to identify bogus names and ensure genuine voters are accurately recorded at the polling station level.
Highlighting the significance of the exercise, R M Babu Murugavel, joint secretary of the AIADMK Advocate Wing, cited findings from Nagapattinam where the party identified 1,680 deceased individuals still listed as voters and 49 persons registered at two different locations.
“If this is the situation in Nagapattinam, imagine the scenario across Tamil Nadu,” he remarked, underscoring the need for thorough cleanup.Under the guidance of General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, former state ministers have been assigned to coordinate with booth-level agents and officers to protect the partyâs support base by ensuring accurate voter lists during the month-long SIR, which began on November 4.
This proactive strategy aims to address voter roll irregularities and strengthen AIADMKâs electoral preparedness ahead of forthcoming elections.
