The Tamil Nadu Election Commission has issued a clarification in response to allegations that DMK members are improperly collecting SIR (Special Intensive Revision) forms during the ongoing voter list revision process. These accusations were raised by opposition parties including AIADMK and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), who claimed some political workers, especially from DMK, are gathering large numbers of SIR forms. Addressing these concerns, the Election Commission explained the authorized procedure: recognized political parties’ booth agents are permitted to collect up to 50 forms daily as part of the SIR exercise. These booth agents submit the filled forms to the polling station level officials. The polling station officials then verify each form thoroughly and confirm their validity. Subsequently, the final review and necessary actions are carried out by the electoral registration officers to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the voter lists. The Election Commission reassured the public that these steps are in place to prevent misuse and maintain transparency in the electoral roll revision process, dispelling rumors of unfair practices by any party. This clarification comes amid heightened political tensions surrounding the SIR exercise in Tamil Nadu and ongoing debates over electoral fairness ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. @@@@
