In a significant show of strength, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) led by General Secretary Bussy Anand held statewide demonstrations on Saturday to protest against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu. The party, following orders from its chief Vijay, organized simultaneous rallies across district headquarters, highlighting what they described as irregularities and misuse of the voter revision process. The principal protest took place at Sivananda Salai in Chennai, with Bussy Anand spearheading the event, joined by TVK’s district secretaries, state administrators, and a large gathering of party cadres. The party’s Election Management Division’s General Secretary, Athav Arjuna, was also present. The demonstrations were aimed at denouncing what TVK views as an unfair and error-prone exercise, which, according to party leaders, threatens the democratic rights of Tamil Nadu’s citizens. Bussy Anand, addressing the crowd, voiced concerns over alleged attempts to arbitrarily delete names from the electoral rolls without prior notification. He condemned what he described as a systematic abuse of authority, with some officials purportedly removing or modifying voter access under false pretenses. Simultaneously, there are claims that the same process is being employed to insert the same individual’s name in multiple constituencies—a tactic TVK argues could distort the integrity of the upcoming elections. The TVK leader further asserted that such maneuvers, potentially orchestrated by supporters of the DMK and BJP, were intended to tip the electoral scales, thereby disenfranchising both new and existing voters. Anand noted the frustration of the public over inadequate explanations from officials regarding the SIR process, and he accused them of undermining the “foundation of democracy.” Bussy Anand called for a comprehensive review of the SIR and urged people to verify their eligibility to vote. Looking ahead, he rallied TVK supporters to ensure everyone exercises their franchise in the 2026 assembly election. Confidently declaring the party’s resolve, he stated that TVK’s ultimate goal is to secure public support and make party chief Vijay the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in 2026. @@@@
