Airfares have sharply increased ahead of the Christmas and New Year holiday season, causing concern among travelers. With many people planning trips for vacations or to visit their families, demand for flights has risen significantly.

At Tiruchirappalli International Airport, ticket prices to major cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi have gone up nearly three times compared to normal days. For example, fares from Chennai to Tiruchirappalli, Bengaluru to Tiruchirappalli, and Hyderabad to Tiruchirappalli have all seen a steep rise, surprising passengers.

Travelers say the sudden price hike has made it difficult for many to afford holiday travel. Travel industry sources explain that airfare usually increases during peak festive seasons due to heavy demand, but this year the rise is unusually high.

With the festive season nearing, passengers are now forced to reconsider travel plans or bear the higher costs to reach their destinations.

DMK started horse-trading, alleges MDMK chief Vaiko

VCK–DMK alliance Ends, Says Thirumavalavan

AgencyJuly 7, 20260

VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan has said that the induction of a former VCK legislator into the DMK in the presence of former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin signalled the effective end of the political alliance between the two parties.
Rejecting allegations that the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) had betrayed the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, Mr. Thirumavalavan asserted that it was the DMK leadership, and not the VCK, that first declared there was no alliance.
