PMK president Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss has clarified that the decisions reportedly set to be taken at a general body meeting in Salem on December 29 convened by Dr Ramadoss will not bind the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), amid an ongoing leadership dispute in the party.
In a statement, Anbumani said the party has not issued any official notice about such a meeting, and that under PMK rules, only meetings convened and chaired by the legitimately elected party president—and recognised by its leadership—are valid. He maintained that no one else has the authority to call or chair a general body meeting, and any resolutions passed at an unlawful gathering would have no effect on the party’s decisions or structure.
Anbumani’s statement comes amid a leadership tussle within the PMK, marked by rival meetings and competing claims to authority between him and the party’s founder Dr. S. Ramadoss, who has questioned the legality of some of Anbumani’s actions.
The clarification aims to assert Anbumani’s position and prevent confusion among party members as the PMK navigates internal disputes ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.
