Christmas is being celebrated with great devotion, joy and festive spirit across Tamil Nadu as thousands of Christians attended midnight prayers and special church services on Christmas Eve.
Churches across the state were beautifully decorated with lights, stars, cribs and festive displays, creating a vibrant atmosphere of celebration. Devotees gathered with their families, offering prayers, singing carols and participating in the holy mass to mark the birth of Jesus Christ.
At the world-renowned Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health in Velankanni, a massive number of worshippers assembled for the midnight mass. Special prayers were conducted, the Christmas message was delivered, and the celebrations reflected deep faith and unity among the devotees. Elaborate arrangements were made to manage the large congregation.
In Chennai, leading churches witnessed overwhelming participation. At the Annai Velankanni Church in Besant Nagar, thousands attended the midnight service, with the church premises illuminated and filled with festive decorations. Similarly, the historic Santhome Basilica in Mylapore saw a large turnout of devotees who took part in special prayers and Christmas mass with great reverence.
Similar scenes of devotion and festivity were seen in Puducherry, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, Tiruchy, Nagercoil, Tuticorin, Nagapattinam and several other regions, where priests conducted special services and families exchanged festive greetings.
