Chennai’s long-awaited Pammal–Anakaputhur–Kundrathur four-lane road project is expected to be completed by the 2026–27 financial year, offering much-needed relief to commuters in the city’s southern suburbs. The project, which has been pending for several years, is seen as a key infrastructure upgrade for the rapidly growing residential and commercial pockets in this corridor. The road widening initiative aims to ease chronic traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and accommodate increasing vehicular movement in areas such as Pammal, Anakaputhur and Kundrathur. Officials said the work is being implemented in a phased manner, with land surveys already completed and construction progressing steadily along different stretches.
Once completed, the four-lane road is expected to significantly improve connectivity between major residential neighbourhoods, ensure smoother traffic flow, and reduce travel time for thousands of daily commuters. The project is also expected to boost overall urban mobility and support future development in Chennai’s southern suburbs.
