The India Global Education Summit (IGES) 2026 opened with strong global participation at Chennai’s Kalaivanar Arangam, drawing over 1,000 delegates from more than 20 countries, including representatives from universities around the world, officials said.
Inaugurated by Member of Parliament Thamizhachi Thangapandian, the summit was hailed as a platform for innovation and collaboration in education. She highlighted education’s role in challenging inequality and creating new opportunities, while calling Tamil Nadu the “education capital of India.”
The event’s first day featured workshops focused on enhancing student experiences and raising academic standards.
Plans also include MoU exchanges and the launch of the IGNITE Magazine (India Global Network for Innovation, Talent and Education), along with other major initiatives in the presence of national and international education leaders.
The summit underscores Tamil Nadu’s efforts to position itself as a global hub for educational excellence and innovation.
