Chennai, Apr 3:
Senior IPS officer Sandeep Rai Rathore has taken charge as the Director General of Police (Law and Order) in Tamil Nadu, following directions from the Election Commission of India ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
The appointment comes after the transfer of incumbent DGP G. Venkataraman as part of poll-related administrative reshuffles aimed at ensuring a neutral and smooth electoral process.
Rathore, a 1992-batch IPS officer, brings extensive experience, having served in key positions including Chennai Police Commissioner and DGP (Training).
His appointment is seen as a crucial move in strengthening law and order management during the election period, with the Election Commission closely monitoring administrative machinery to maintain a level playing field across the state.
