Chennai, Apr 9:

Tamil Nadu has taken a significant step towards digital governance with the rollout of STAR 3.0, a revamped system aimed at making document registration faster, simpler, and largely paperless.

The initiative seeks to address long-standing issues faced by the public in registration offices, including repeated visits, excessive paperwork, and long waiting hours. With the introduction of STAR 3.0, the government is attempting to streamline the entire process and offer a more efficient experience to citizens.

All services under the new system are accessible through the official portal TNREGINET, which serves as a one-stop platform for property registration, downloading certificates, and tracking applications. The move is expected to reduce dependency on physical visits and bring greater transparency.

Under STAR 3.0, users can now submit documents online without the need to carry physical copies. In several cases, visiting the registration office may no longer be required, as Aadhaar-based biometric verification ensures secure identity authentication. The system also enables automatic preparation of deeds, minimising errors and saving time for applicants.

Once the registration process is completed, documents are made available digitally almost instantly. Users can download certified copies without delays, while payment processes have been simplified through QR code and UPI options.

Officials said the upgraded system also makes it easier for the public to check property details and track the status of their applications in real time.

With these features, STAR 3.0 marks a major step towards modernising registration services in Tamil Nadu, improving efficiency while enhancing ease of access for the public.
