Chennai, Apr 16:
With the Assembly elections approaching, Tamil Nadu has stepped up preparations, conducting the second phase of special training for polling personnel across the State on April 15 to ensure smooth and efficient election management.
According to a statement issued by Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik, extensive training sessions are being held statewide to equip officials with the necessary skills to handle polling operations effectively.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening transparency, accuracy, and overall efficiency in the electoral process.
During this phase, polling station-level officers and other personnel were given hands-on training in operating Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and managing polling procedures. Officials received practical demonstrations on the correct usage of EVMs and were also allowed to simulate voting scenarios to enhance their understanding and confidence.
The training also focused on ensuring that voters are able to cast their votes independently and securely, with officials being guided on best practices to facilitate a smooth voting experience at polling booths.
In total, around 3.04 lakh officials participated in the training programme, reflecting the масштаб of election preparedness in the State.
Additionally, personnel were trained in the use of the Election Commission of India mobile application, which enables real-time uploading of polling data from each booth. This system is expected to enhance monitoring and streamline reporting on polling day.
Authorities said that all necessary arrangements are being put in place to ensure polling officials are fully prepared to discharge their duties efficiently, as Tamil Nadu gears up for a crucial electoral contest.
