Chennai, Apr 21:
Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday launched a sharp attack on the BJP and the AIADMK, alleging that the national party had effectively “captured” the regional outfit and warning voters against supporting the NDA in Tamil Nadu.
Addressing an election campaign meeting in the Egmore constituency in the presence of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Kejriwal claimed that the AIADMK was under the control of the BJP and accused it of committing a “biggest crime” by facilitating the BJP’s entry into the State’s political space.
“The NDA is not the AIADMK and the BJP; it is only the BJP. The AIADMK is in the grip of the BJP,” he said, cautioning that the party could face a similar fate as seen in other States.
Drawing a comparison with Bihar politics, he alleged that regional allies risk being weakened once aligned with the BJP.
Kejriwal further claimed that the BJP was attempting to expand its footprint in Tamil Nadu but asserted that the people of the State were opposed to it. “Tamil Nadu does not want the BJP. So, beware before you vote,” he said.
Referring to the DMK government’s initiatives, he praised schemes such as financial assistance for women heads of families, the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme, and support for girls’ education, stating that such measures were not widely replicated in other States.
