Washington, June 20:
In a significant development in the Middle East crisis, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed he personally urged Israel to agree to a ceasefire with Hezbollah, using the phrase “you just gotta calm down.” His remarks came shortly after a truce was announced following intense cross-border fighting.
Trump revealed in an interview that he had been in contact with Israeli leadership during the escalation and encouraged them to accept the ceasefire. He said Israel needed to “calm down sometimes and use your head,” presenting the truce as a positive step toward de-escalation.
He also suggested his intervention played a role in securing the agreement, framing it as part of broader diplomatic efforts in the region.
