NEW DELHI:
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has told the Supreme Court that decisions relating to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls were taken unanimously by its three members. The Commission rejected allegations that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar acted unilaterally.
In its affidavit, the ECI said the orders issued in June 2025, October 2025 and May 2026 received unanimous approval. It also denied changing Form 6, used for voter registration, clarifying that the declaration form introduced for the SIR exercise was a separate document. The affidavit was filed in response to petitions challenging the Commission’s decision-making process.
