Chennai: The 6th edition of Chennai Literary Festival (CLF) will be held at University of Madras from 8 to 10 January.
According to a press release, over 30 colleges in and around the city have joined hands with Chennai Literary Association (CLA) to conduct the festival.
Various literary events happened as a prelude to the main festival at Ethiraj College for Women, where more than 1,500 students from several colleges in Chennai and suburbs participated. The activities featured picture story writing, quiz (Tamil and English), mono-acting, story writing, stage a scene, sing a story, sing your lyrics, oratory, identify the writer, dramatic monologue, etc.
“The objective behind CLF is to make more and more people experience the pleasure of reading and add value to their lives. We hope this sixth edition will also witness amazing literary gathering as the previous editions,” said CLF president R J Kumaravel at a press meet here Saturday.
CLF secretary Sudhakar, past president Latha Rajan and CLF founder G Olivannan were present.
On 8 January, after the inauguration at 10.30 am, there will be a street play by the students of Dr MGR Educational & Research Institute.
On 9 January, a Tamil oratorical competition will be held at D G Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam and will be anchored by Ravi Subramaniam. Concurrently, more than 30 literary workshops will be held in several participating colleges of the city.
On 10 January, the valedictory function will take place at JBAS College for Women, Chennai. Actor Ponvannan will be the chief guest and writer Aazhi Senthil Nathan will be the guest of honour.
Cultural events and prize distribution to the winners of the competitions and literary events will be held. The prizes will be distributed by University of Madras Vice-Chancellor P Duraisamy.
