Chennai: G Subramanian and C Sivachandran from tamilnadu were among the 42 CPRF personnel killed in the Pulwama terror attack on Thursday. Subramanian is from Savalaperi and Sivachandran belongs to Ariyalur district.
According to media reports, both had returned to their camps just five days ago after spending about a month’s leave at their respective home towns. Subramanian had joined CRPF in 2014 and was moved to Jammu and Kashmir after being posted in Chennai and Uttar Pradesh. He had married Krishnaveni in 2017. After spending a month long leave he had returned to his camp on 10 February.
Sivachandran, who belongs to Karugudi village near Ariyalur, had resumed duty on 9 February. He had joined the CRPF in 2010 and is survived by his wife Kanthimathi and a 2-year-old son. His wife is currently pregnant. According to media reports, Sivachandran had called his wife around 12 pm on the fateful day. He said to be the sole earning member of the family. Sivachandran’s father Chinnayan speaking to a media house, said “he went to save the nation, but could not protect his family.”
Condemning the terror attack Tamilnadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami yesterday announced a solatium of Rs 20 lakh each to the victims’ families.
Actor Rajinikanth said, “Time has come to put an end to all these barbaric acts. My heart goes out to the families of the jawans who lost their lives…may their souls rest in peace.”
DMK President M K Stalin also condemned the attack. He tweeted, “I’m deeply grieved and firmly condemn the cowardly attack on #CRPF soldiers in Awantipora. DMK while expressing deep condolences to all the bereaved families stands firmly with the security personnel in the service of the nation.”
In what could be termed as one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, a Jaish suicide bomber rammed a vehicle loaded with over 100 kg of explosives into a bus carrying Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Pulwama district on Thursday.
The suicide bomber was identified as Adil Ahmed, who had joined the Pakistan-based JeM in 2018. The terror group has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack
