Ongoing Expo at Circle Library has many books to choose from

Writer-cum-lawyer Sigaram S Senthilnathan inaugurated the book exhibition and went through the stall at Circle Library, Ashok Nagar in Chennai, recently.

Chennai: Tamil books Uravai Kaaka Uyil Uyirai Kaaka Uruppu by Seeni Varadarajan and Sankara Engira Puratchikarar translated into Tamil by K Jayaraman have been some of the best selling ones at the ongoing book exhibition at Circle Library, Eleventh Avenue, Ashok Nagar.

Writer-cum-lawyer Sigaram S Senthilnathan inaugurated the fourth annual summer book festival in the presence of District Library Officer S Elango Chandrakumar, at Circle Library, 6 May. The exhibition will go on till 26 May.

Vannadasan’s short stories are most sought after by the visitors, said Sandhya Pathipagam chief executive officer T Soundarajan.

Many motivational books, Tamil literature, dictionaries are on display. This year’s new arrivals are Noorjahan translated into Tamil by S Saravanan and Kamban Kalai by A S Gnanasambanthan, he said.

Around 10,000 books published by Sandhya Pathipagam, Rajmohan Pathigam and Om Sakthi Books International are exhibited in the festival.

A wide range of books in English and Tamil like short stories, novels, poetry, history, essays, dictionaries, books on food, sports, health, biographies, spiritual and short comics, rhymes and storybooks for children are available. A 20 per cent discount is offered for all books.

Encyclopaedias on different subjects are displayed and visitors can get it for a discount of 50 per cent and there is also a buy-one-take-one offer by Om Sakthi Books.

Reader’s Digest – Reverse dictionary which is priced over Rs 1,000 is available for just Rs 250 at the exhibition.

For children, tiny books such as drawing, story telling are available from Rs 10 and for bookworms, English novels are stacked and are priced at Rs 100.

When it comes to sports, Rajmohan Pathigam has come up with Play Games by T Thangamani, where it deals with 12 different sports such as kabaddi, KhoKho, football, swimming. “We also have books about each sport in Tamil which deals with its history and how to play,” said
Rajmohan Pathigam publisher Adam Socrates.

“It is nice to see such book exhibition apart from the annual Chennai Book Fair. I have purchased books written by Vannadasan, S Kandasamy and S Abdul Rahman,” said J Navaneethakrishnan, who had come from West Mambalam.

“Anyone visiting the book fair and wants a specific book which is not available, we will make special arrangements to get the book,” said Sandhya Pathipagam chief editor M Natarajan.
The book festival will be open from 2 pm to 8.30 pm on working days and between 11am and 8.30 pm on holidays.
