Coimbatore: Tamilnadu chief minister K Palaniswami Thursday said the state was facing water scarcity due to scanty rainfall and steps were being taken to tackle the situation by allotting necessary funds.
In the wake of falling groundwater levels and scanty rainfall, Tamilnadu is reeling under water scarcity. Chief Minister Palaniswami yesterday assured that the government was taking necessary steps by allotting the required funds in this regard.
Speaking to reporters, the CM said he was hopeful that Karnataka would release Cauvery water as per the order given by the Cauvery Management Board.
He further spoke about the recently held Lok Sabha elections. On the decrease in AIADMK’s percentage of votes, Palaniswami defended that the party votebank was intact. The decline in number of votes was because the party had contested in fewer seats.
The CM further accused the DMK of putting forward a bag of lies during the run for elections. The chief minister said those who had left the AIADMK would return to the party fold soon, an apparent reference to the supporters of AMMK founded by ousted leader TTV Dhinakaran.
